What an internship résumé is judged on
Nobody expects an intern to have done the job before. Internship screening looks for three things: enough technical grounding to be useful within a fortnight, evidence that you follow through on things nobody forced you to do, and a reason you want this specific team.
That makes projects the centre of the document. A course project with a stated goal, method and outcome tells a supervisor more than a list of modules ever will.

Applying on the university timetable

- For large structured programmes, the autumn before — many close by December. Smaller employers hire from around February onwards and often much later.
- Do I need a cover letter for an internship?
- For smaller employers, yes — it's often the deciding factor. Structured graduate programmes usually replace it with an application form.
- Can I include projects that aren't finished?
- Yes, if you say what stage it's at and what you've built so far. An honest work-in-progress is better than an empty section.
